Flaky the Snow Cat!!

Happy Holidays!!

I had a great year, and I’d like to give you something.

The best story I pawed out in 2015: Flaky the Snow Cat!!

You prolly heard me meowing on about it for a while, well that’s because I started last Catmas and then finished in January, because it took me about eleventy mugs of catnip tea to finish, but by that point, I was super caffeinated and it wasn’t Catmas anymore, so I’ve waited all year to share it with you!

I got the idea when I first saw Frosty the Snowman and wondered if you could make snow cats, which it turns out you can (as long as you bring warm Mittens).

Then I thought of Nugget, a lonely black cat who runs away from home to ask Santa for a friend. Along the way, he makes a snow cat, and the snow cat comes to life, and they go all the way to the North Pole, but a bunch of terrible things keep happening to them and then at the end, Nugget dies.

Just kidding! But let me know if the ending makes you cry. I get a kitty treat every time someone tells me that!

Hope you like it!!

I had so many great tuna cookies making this one. Don’t worry if I’m fat though, I burned them all off and then some chasing my cousin Simon down the stairs and tackling him, which I do every night at 8:00pm.

But the café by my house says they might no longer accept kitty litter as currency… 😦 Do you think you could help meowt?

I’d like to keep making more and better stories for you to read here, where you can just donate whatever you want using the PayPal button below, but if you no has munny, you can still read it and enjoy it anyway. Does that sound good?

Beyond the obvious pounds of catnip I need to stay alert during marathon writing sessions, my main costs are printing, conferences, and art supplies. I’m also saving up for a drawing tablet so I can produce higher-quality purrtoons faster and more frequently.

Any amount of scratch is appreciated!!

Thank mew so much!

A warm holiday headbutt,

Announcing the Winner of Hazel’s Halloween Writing Contest!

Happy Meowlloween!!!

Did you get any good candy or kitty snacks? I sure did! It’s been a great day, I met a ton of awesome people at Madison Print & Resist, and then I came home to read a fat stack of beautiful stories for my first-ever Hazel’s Halloween Writing Contest!

Thanks so much to everyone who submitted a story! I loved reading them all, and I encourage you to submit to future contests!

For tonight, I was looking for a story about luck, and tonight’s winner does an outstanding job of integrating luck as a central theme of the narrative.

The main character is a black cat himself burdened with bad luck, which I found a compelling twist on the prompt. Instead of being bad luck, the cat experiences bad luck. As does his future momma before the story begins.

It is only through their relationship that both cat and human emerge on the other side, reversing their fortunes after an impressive and emotional arc. Their luck changes for the better through the mutual love necessary to heal the wounds of devastating circumstances.

Beautiful and succinct and without further ado, Hazel Fluffypants presents:

The Story of Rupurrt Ninja Kitty

Rose Gardner, momma to Rupurrt Ninja Kitty

Rupurrt Ninja Kitty

Once there was a little black kitten who became separated from his kitty mom and siblings. Nobody knows how it happened or what may have happened to them.

During that August, there were heavy and frequent thunderstorms, Rupurrt, knowing he desperately needed help, went to somebody’s house looking for help as he had a prolapsed rectum from all the worms in his body. The people there brought him to an amazing vet the next morning who has saved Rupurrt’s life at least 3 times in his short lifespan.

He was then introduced to a shelter who put him online for adoption. A woman who came forward to adopt him as Rupurrt’s momma thought there was a much better home for him out there. The woman at the last second had a medical issue and was unable to adopt him. Rupurrt’s momma saw him online again and said you aren’t given second chances very often and jumped on adopting him. Without even meeting him, Rupurrt’s momma fell in love with him by his picture alone and even though he loves to push things to the limit, she hasn’t one second of regret.

He is my lucky boy, he has brought so much incredible happiness to my life and has shown me that through adversity, you can smile, you can enjoy life. He came into my life during one of the most difficult times. I was battling depression and in counseling over the death of my husband and knowing I was losing my house in the process. He showed me and continues to show me every single day that everything can be cured with a loving touch and a purr. No matter how bad things get, I have him by my side. I come home from work and he is in the window, pawing at it so that I can come in, pick him up and cuddle his purring self. He alone, single-pawed, has helped me find a new road. I have completed school, found the love of my life and we have moved back into the house. I don’t believe any of this could have happened without his positive energy keeping me going. Not only is he good luck, he is the love of my life.

Caturday Intermew with Kooty the Owl Cat!

Happy Caturday, Lovelies!

I am so excited and purry to present you an intermew with my gorgeous furriend, Kooty the Owl Cat! Look at those eyes! And that face! And those little teeth!

Kooty 2

Hazel: Hi Kooty! Wow, you are a cute kitty! What advice do you have for bright young kittens aspiring to build a web presence?

Kooty: I know this might sound a bit cliché, but be yourself. If you want to have a presence in the amazing vast world of the kitty-net, you need to do it for yourself, not for other people and kitties. As soon as you start stressing out on how you want people and kitties to perceive you and how you can please them, you will lose yourself and your identity and you will fail and be just like everyone else. Be your wonderful kitty self and you will be unique, original, and loved for it.

Hazel: I definitely pawgree and that’s super important to remember! Who has been your biggest inspiration and why?

Kooty: My biggest inspiration has probably been mama. We’ve been together for almost 13 years now.

Hazel: Aww wow, I am so happy you found each other!

Kooty: I never really thought of even going into the kitty-net world, but mama has always had so many pictures of me, and she’s always been my private Mamarazzi.

Hazel: Mamarazzi? Mol!!

Kooty: We both inspired one another and decided to open an account just for me and my Mamarazzi pictures! After opening one and delving into the kitty-world, I never really expected we’d have so many amazing friends and that there’s a whole huge kitty-net society! It was fascinating!

Hazel: And then us kitties get to meet each other and discuss movies and books and TV! What do you like to read or watch?

Kooty: Well, mama and I are quite picky when it comes to books and series/movies. We aren’t easily pleased. When it comes to books, we love most classics, like Charles Dickens, Emily Dickinson, Jane Austen, Louisa May Alcott, and so on. We love the Harry Potter series (NOT the movies) and Game of Thrones series! And there’s so much more!

When it comes to series, our top three are Game of Thrones, Sherlock Holmes, and Downton Abbey.

When it comes to movies, Disney classics are always the best! (The Lion King, WOO! Major crush on Simba), and movies like Titanic, Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit trilogy, Braveheart, and so on…

Hazel: Nice choices! How do you feel about the rise of feline power, and how do you see that power shaping the world in the future?

Kooty: The rise of feline power is absolutely wonderful! Ever since the beginning of mankind, humans have always claimed that dogs are a man’s best friend. It has always been a dog’s world, until the Internet existed and we turned it into the Kitty-net! The humans need to see that there are much more to kitties than they think! We need some attention and we need to be prioritized. This feline power will help many unnoticed kitties to have a new home. If it wasn’t for the kitty-net, then me, a black cat, would never have the opportunity to go out there and show the world how amazing and wonderful black cats are! And because of my kitty-net presence, I’ve had many humans adopting black kitties that they probably never thought about before they saw me! I’ve very proud of the attention I’m giving to black cats and all cats in general!

Hazel: Right, the Kitty-net has made all the difference in busting the black cat myth. My character Nugget is a black cat but he’s too cute not to love! Other than Nugget, because who would you love to have dinner with? What would you eat and where?

Kooty: Well, I would definitely be @jayorag from Instagram! He is such a handsome kitty and we would have a wonderful time eating tuna flakes or honey-roasted turkey in a candlelit dinner in Spain (where Fellini is)!

Hazel: I hear Spain is pawmazing!! Let’s talk about mistakes. What you got?

Kooty: Well, when I was a little kitty I wasn’t very friendly as I am now. I didn’t like people touching me and I never ever sat on mama’s lap. I was afraid of almost everything and I ran away and hid a lot. As I grew older, I’ve become warmer, and now I am more trusting of my family and I sit on mama’s lap all the time!

I learned that I shouldn’t be so afraid and that I should have been more trusting long ago. I really wish I was but it’s better late than never.

Hazel: Everypawdy has their own path, I am purry you found yours! It’s been so nice chatting with you, Kooty, so to conclude, if you could say only one thing to a potential new or existing follower, what would you like them to know?

Kooty: I would like to thank all my existing and new followers, on Instagram and Facebook, for the constant support that they’ve always been showing me. I never in a million years expected to be loved and appreciated the way I am today, and I wouldn’t be where I am now without their support and inspiration. I wish I can show them how much I love and appreciate every single one of them, I always read every single comment and many of them makes mama and I smile. Thanking them will never be enough for us, but truly, I am so grateful for them.

Thank you so much for the wonderful questions!
I hope you enjoy them!

With love,
Kooty the Owl Cat

Hazel: Thanks Kooty! Have a wonderful rest of your Caturday!

And thank YOU readers for reading!
